Most women I’ve met have expressed their longing to meet “Prince Charming” and to live happily ever after. I too spent most of my life looking for the Fairy Tale only to have ended up with two failed marriages and still no prince.
One day in desperation I decided that suicide would be the best way to end my pain. When I finished writing out my suicide note, I cried out, “God, all I ever wanted was one man to love me, but no matter what I did it was never enough.”
And He spoke to me. Not in an audible voice, but deep in my heart I heard Him say, “Debbie, what you did wasn’t enough, but what I did, by sending my Son Jesus to die for you, that was enough.”
I realized that one man finally did love me, love me in fact so much, that He died for me to make me His.
Why have so few women experienced the Fairy Tale? Because it’s a story about fairies, not women!! But, there is a tale about women and it goes like this…
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
God sent His Son Jesus Christ, the real Prince, with a real Kingdom, to earth because He loves you so much and wants you to live with Him in His Kingdom. But on our own, we can’t do that, because we are all sinners.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
God’s glory is 100% perfection. To fall short means that we have all fallen short of God’s required perfection.
“For the wages of sin is death”. Romans 6:23
The consequence or the penalty for falling short is eternal separation from God.
But, despite that bad news, there is good news…
“the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Jesus died in our place and rescued us from an eternal death and separation from God.
But, here’s the big question? Will you allow Him to rescue you or will you try to save yourself?
He offers you, as a gift, a secure place in His Kingdom.
How do you receive the gift?
The gift is given freely and can’t be earned or purchased. It can only be received by faith.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.” Ephesians 2:9-10
How do you accept His free gift?
You simply believe that you are a sinner worthy of death and that Jesus died for you by dying in your place.
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
If you’d like to receive the free gift of eternal life you can say this simple prayer or use your own words. The words are not important, but only the attitude of your heart.
Lord, I’m a sinner worthy of death. I’m sorry and ask You to forgive me. I believe that You died in my place and I want Your gift of eternal life. Amen
You now have a new life and the Bible says that “the old things passed away; behold new things have come”. 2 Corinthians 5:15
You are a brand new creation and you need to know how to live differently. The reason that you can live differently is because when Christ died, He rose again from the dead three days later. You and I serve a living Savior and if you’ve accepted His free gift, by faith, then He lives in your heart through His Spirit!
I suggest that you do three important things:
- Get a Bible and start reading the book of John. You can look in the index to find the book of John. It is the fourth book in the New Testament. Also, look up the above Scripture references or ask someone to show you how to do so and read them for yourself.
- Find a good Bible-teaching church and begin to go regularly. Ask someone there where you could find a good Bible study.
- Pray daily. Praying is just simply talking to God like you talk to your best friend. There are no certain things that you are required to say. Just tell Him how you feel and what you are struggling with and tell Him you love Him and want to know Him better.
